A cyclist is dead after she was struck by a dump truck driver in midtown Toronto on Thursday morning, police say.
The crash happened around 8:48 a.m. in the area of Bloor Street West and Avenue Road, Toronto police said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, investigators say.
What appeared to be a Bike Share Toronto bicycle could be seen on the ground at the scene, near a helmet and a pool of blood.
Bloor is closed in both directions from Avenue to Bay Street. Police are asking people to avoid the area.
