A 28-year-old man is dead after a motorcycle crash in Toronto early Thursday, provincial police say.

The crash happened on the off-ramp for Rathburn Road from the northbound lanes of Highway 427. Police were first notified by a passerby around 2:40 a.m.

The rider, who was from Mississauga, and his motorcycle were found off the roadway, according to OPP Sgt. Nicola Morris.

He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, Morris said.

The off-ramp was expected to be closed until about 7:30 a.m.

Morris said it was the fourth fatal motorcycle crash in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area since the weekend.

“So we’re asking all motorcycle riders to slow down and all motorists to slow down,” she said.
