York University, faculty union continue talks as potential strike or lockout looms just weeks before classes begin

The union representing more than 1,700 York University faculty, librarians and archivists warns there is a potential of a strike or lockout just two weeks before fall classes begin if a new agreement with the administration is not reached.

York University and the York University Faculty Association (YUFA) have been negotiating since April over a new agreement after the current one expired on April 30. On Aug. 2, over 92 per cent of YUFA’s members approved a strike mandate in a vote that had an almost 84 per cent turnout.
