Ontario Provincial Police say one person has died and two others were taken to hospital after a single-vehicle crash in Whitby early Friday morning.
Emergency crews were called to the off-ramp on Highway 401 eastbound to Brock Street at around 3 a.m.
A male driver was pronounced dead at the scene, OPP say. His age has not been released at this time. Police say two other passengers were taken to hospital in non-life threatening condition.
The ramp, which closed for several hours Friday morning for the police investigation, is expected to reopen at 7:30 a.m. Meanwhile, all lanes of Highway 401 in the area remain open.
An investigation into the collision is now underway, OPP said.
