Toronto police officer describes ‘takedown’ after Kijiji deal with non-violent Brampton man ends in death

An off-duty Toronto police officer says he had already retrieved his “robbed” money from a non-violent Chadd Facey after a chase through a Brampton park when fellow cop Calvin Au “almost instantaneously” tackled the young man to the ground.

More than three years after 19-year-old Facey died hours after the April 2021 clash, Const. Gurmakh Benning gave his account of the brief encounter between himself, Facey, and his colleague now accused of assault causing bodily harm, Const. Calvin Au.
