Ford government announces details of its audit of Ontario children’s aid societies

The Ontario government has revealed its plans for an audit of children’s aid societies that officials say will give them a comprehensive look at the state of the province’s child welfare system, including the quality of child protection services and a financial review to pinpoint factors driving rising costs and deficits.

The audit, which ministry officials on Wednesday said will be conducted by an outside contractor with a final report expected next spring, will examine agencies’ operational costs, including executive compensation and staffing.
