Part of man’s ear bitten off during Pickering pub fight, police say

Two men have been charged with assault after a fight in a Pickering restaurant, during which part of one of their ears was bitten off, police say.

Durham police responded to an armed person call on Wednesday around 1:35 a.m at the New Knight’s Corner Pub and Grill, they said in a news release Thursday.

The men were fighting in the restaurant and throwing glassware at each other, police said.

“During the fight, a portion of one of the male’s ears was bitten off,” the release said.

The men were taken into custody without incident, police said. They were both transported to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

A 44-year-old man from Pickering has been charged with aggravated assault, and a 49-year-old man from Toronto has been charged with assault causing bodily harm.

Both men were released on an undertaking, the release said.

Anyone with information about the incident or who may have cell phone, dashcam or surveillance footage is asked to contact investigators.
