Charles, the Toronto Zoo’s Western lowland gorilla, shows ‘concerning health symptoms’

Charles, an “iconic” 52-year-old Western lowland gorilla at the Toronto Zoo, is experiencing health issues.

His condition has declined within the last 48 hours and he has “shown some concerning health symptoms that suggest he may be experiencing significant heart issues,” the zoo said in a Facebook post. These issues mean Charles will not be visible to guests while he receives care from his veterinary team.
