A giant holiday festival is turning Toronto into a dazzling Christmas paradise complete with light installations, skating and festive vibes.
The Cavalcade of Lights, sponsored by Desjardins Financial Group, is returning to Nathan Phillips Square from November 30, 2024 to January 7, 2025.
This year’s theme is “Shine” and you can enjoy cultural performances, light installations, family-friendly festivities and more for free.
On November 12, the giant Christmas tree will arrive in the Square, marking the start of the festive season. Throughout the festival, the tree will sparkle with thousands of energy-efficient LEDs and over 500 glittering ornaments.
According to the website, the opening night is “inspired by international lantern, fire and light festivals and winter solstice celebrations” and you can enjoy live music, light displays, a tree lighting ceremony, DJ skating party and ice rink performances.
The festival will also be hosting a DJ skating party on December 7 to celebrate the rink’s 60th anniversary.
Throughout the holiday season, you can wander around the glowing light installations and enjoy the holiday ambiance in the heart of Toronto.
Skate rentals are available to rent onsite, and are free every Saturday starting December 7.
If you’re looking for some free, festive fun, this holiday event is worth a visit.
