Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a 48-year-old woman who was found injured at a home in Oshawa Sunday morning, Durham Regional Police say.
At approximately 12:30 a.m., officers received a 911 call to attend a home on Eulalie Avenue, Sgt. Joanne Bortoluss told reporters at the scene just after 11 a.m.
She said officers arrived and located a woman suffering from obvious signs of trauma.
Officers as well as paramedics treated her at the scene before she was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre, but she was later pronounced dead in hospital, Bortoluss said.
Police say the woman’s husband, who is 41-years-old, is in police custody and is facing a charge of first-degree murder.
The couple’s two five-year-old children as well as an elderly woman were at the home at the time of the homicide but were uninjured, police say.
Investigators are appealing to anyone that lives in the neighborhood or anyone that may have information about this incident to come forward to police.
