At an emotionally charged memorial Sunday evening, families of cyclists and pedestrians killed and injured on Ontario roads rallied at Queen’s Park to express outrage over Premier Doug Ford’s plan to limit bike lanes, legislation they say will put more lives at risk.
One of the statements read before a crowd of supporters holding candles and victims’ pictures was a letter from the family of Alex Amaro, a 23-year-old cyclist killed on Dufferin Street in December 2020, which was addressed directly to Ford and Transportation Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria.
