‘Unprovoked and senseless’: Man gets life sentence for second random killing of a Toronto stranger

A man who shot and killed an unarmed stranger in downtown Toronto for reasons unknown was sentenced to life in prison on Friday.

Jaunoi Christian’s February 2019 murder “appears to have been random, unprovoked and senseless,” Superior Court Justice Jennifer Penman said while imposing the mandatory sentence on Ibrahim Khiar in front of Christian’s grief-stricken family members.
