Mental health hearing delayed for woman accused in three slayings as Crown has not yet been assigned

A judge presiding over the case of a woman accused of three slayings in southern Ontario last month expressed frustration over the fact a Crown attorney had yet to be assigned to the “complicated” matter during a brief appearance on Wednesday, and has asked that the mental health assessment scheduled for next month not take place until the designation is made.

Sabrina Kauldhar, 30, appeared virtually from her jail cell on Wednesday, exactly a week after a capacity assessment was scheduled to take place at The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto. Kauldhar, facing three counts of murder, was ordered to undergo the assessment last month, despite her initially advising her lawyers to oppose it.
