This railway ride near Toronto takes you through a snowy woodland full of Christmas magic

This magical railway experience near Toronto will have you feeling like you’re riding the Polar Express. With twinkling lights and festive cheer, it’s an enchanting way to enjoy the holiday season.

Halton County Radial Railway, located in Milton, is hosting its Christmas on the Rails event on select dates from December 7 to 15, 2024.

According to the website, the destination is “Ontario’s first and largest electric railway museum” and features “historic electric railcars operating on two kilometres of scenic track.”

The Christmas on the Rails experience lets you hop on board a vintage streetcar and ride through Christmas splendour. The streetcars, buildings and grounds are decked out in twinkling lights and festive decor that will have you feeling merry.

There are typically up to four different streetcars to ride, and each journey takes about 20 minutes. You’ll travel through the sparkling, snow-covered woods with the sound of Christmas carols filling the air.

Santa himself will make an appearance and might even drive the streetcar to the North Pole.

To make the evening even sweeter, hot chocolate, cider, cookies and coffee will be available to enjoy as you explore the area.

Tickets can be purchased online or at the door. With sparkling lights, holiday cheer and magical views, this railway experience is a fun and cozy way to get into the Christmas spirit.
