Man dead after ‘targeted’ shooting outside Brampton home, police say

A man is dead and another is in hospital after what police are calling a targeted shooting outside a home in Brampton late Wednesday.

Emergency services were called to a residence on Odeon Street, in the north end of the city, around 11:30 p.m. for reports of multiple gunshots.

Responding officers found two men with gunshot wounds, according to Peel police Sgt. Jennifer Trimble.

One of the men was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was taken to a trauma centre. His injuries are considered non-life threatening, Trimble said.

“We believe this was a targeted shooting,” Trimble told reporters on Thursday.

It is still too early in the investigation to release any information about the deceased, she said.

Investigators are looking for a white, four-door sedan. It is not known how many people were in the vehicle when the shooting happened, Trimble added.

Investigators are also aware of security camera video circulating online that purportedly captured the shooting, she said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Peel police or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers.
