Man accused in shooting near Danforth Avenue has history of intimate partner violence, ‘difficulty accepting the end of a relationship’

The man accused of killing Alisha Brooks outside a Toronto halfway house is a federal parolee who had a “persistent” history of violence toward women and was serving a sentence for assaulting the mother of his child.

Aaron Shea, 33, was arrested on Sunday evening on Jones Avenue, where he was residing at a facility run by the John Howard Society, after he allegedly shot and killed Brooks, 34, who he was in a relationship with.
