Five men charged in Toronto area break-and-enters were in the country to commit crimes, York police say

Five men have been charged after a series of residential robberies throughout the Toronto area earlier this month, York police said, adding they believe the suspects, all originally from Chile, were in the country for the “purpose of committing criminal offences.”

Police said they were already conducting an investigation when suspects broke into a house near Avenue Road and Wilson Avenue in Toronto on Dec. 13. The men attempted another break-and-enter at a second home in the area of Indian Road and Woodeden Drive in Mississauga before returning to a rental property in Oakville, police added.
