His dream was to make movies. Now, he’s certified to investigate high-end art crime for the Toronto police

Lionel Doe can’t remember ever wanting to become a police officer as a kid. His dream, when he moved to Toronto in the early 2000s, fresh out of a Masters of Fine Arts program, was to make movies.

“I’ve always had a passion for art,” Doe told the Star. “I went to school to make films. Ultimately, I wanted to be a writer or director, but I found myself needing stability.”
