Ontario Provincial Police say a driver was taken to a trauma centre with serious, life-threatening injuries after the collision, which occurred just after 4:30 p.m. on April 22. The crash took place in the eastbound lanes of Hwy. 401 at Brock Street in Whitby, say police.

According to Javon Harwood, a freelance photographer at the scene, firefighters from Whitby and Ajax had to extricate the driver of the pick-up truck.
Just before 5PM this afternoon @ajax_fire and @WhitbyFire crews extricated the driver of a pickup truck, partially pinned under the trailer of a transport truck, following a crash HWY 401 EB, just before the Brock St overpass in Whitby.
