‘I really do believe that community exists’: Queer women in Toronto get creative about finding community

You could barely hear the lyrics to the Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter and Billie Eilish songs over the sound of the crowd singing along, never missing a beat. Sweaty bodies clad in crop tops, mini dresses and cowboy hats danced in groups of three or four around the dimly-lit room, occasionally opening up to invite new people in but somehow never colliding with those next to them.

A few minutes earlier, the smaller groups within the crowd dissipated as everyone stood in awe while drag performer Gender Slay Quoi lip-synched to a medley of Chappell Roan and Charli xcx songs, eliciting more cheers with every split and high kick.
