A man charged with attempted murder in a Brampton shooting last March was on a release stemming from similar crimes in the summer, Peel Regional Police said.
Authorities said on March 9, 2024, officers responded to a shooting in the parking lot of 51 McMurchy Avenue in Brampton.
Police located an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, but he survived.
The suspect was identified as 24-year-old Travarn Atkinson of Mississauga. On Jan. 26, 2025, he was arrested and charged with attempted murder using a firearm. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Police said at the time of his arrest, Atkinson was on release for two counts of attempted murder and multiple firearms offences stemming from the summer of 2024.
