Hate crimes reported to Toronto police rose 47 per cent in 2023 — on average, one for every single day of the year.
Hate-motivated mischief at schools contributed to the number of total hate crimes growing from 248 in 2022 to 365 last year, reaching a 10-year high, said a new report from the police’s hate crimes unit citing the ongoing conflict in Gaza as a major factor.
