A man has been rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries after a police-involved shooting in Scarborough on Monday, Toronto police and paramedics say.
The shooting happened in the area of Warden Avenue and Ellesmere Road, according to police. Officers were called to the area shortly after 3 p.m.
Toronto paramedics said they took a man with life-threatening injuries to hospital.
Police said Warden Avenue is closed between Canadian and Ellesmere roads as the investigation continues.
Police provided no other details.
There’s no word on whether Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has been notified about the shooting.
The SIU is an independent government agency that investigates the conduct of police officers in incidents that may have resulted in death, serious injury, sexual assault or the discharge of a firearm at a person.
