Toronto police say a male driver is dead after a two-vehicle crash in an industrial area of Etobicoke on Tuesday morning.

Police are urging drivers to avoid Albion Road, which is closed in both directions west of Highway 427, as a reconstruction team investigates.

At this point, there are no details about how the deadly crash happened around 10:10 a.m. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, paramedics confirmed.

They said a second patient was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The fatal crash marks the fifth time someone in an automobile has died on a Toronto roadway in 2024, according to the police service’s Vision Zero dashboard.

The city introduced Vision Zero in 2016 with the goal of eliminating traffic-related deaths, a goal it has yet to meet.
