Man, 23, fatally shot in North York

A 23-year-old man was fatally shot in North York early Thursday, Toronto police say.

The shooting happened just before 3 a.m. on Cherokee Boulevard, near Finch Avenue E.

Responding officers found the victim with gunshot wounds and he was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police did not immediately provide any further information about the man.

Speaking to reporters at the scene, Det. Sajeev Nair said witnesses told investigators that two suspects opened fire on the victim.

“At this moment in time I do believe this was a targeted incident,” he said.
