Toronto police board member Nadine Spencer removed after urgent city council motion

In what’s being called an “unprecedented” development, a Toronto police board member was removed from the seven-member civilian board Thursday in an urgent city council motion.

Nadine Spencer — a well-known Toronto entrepreneur who was appointed to the board last April — was removed “effective immediately,” read the motion, dubbed “urgent,” that was brought forward by Coun. Shelley Carroll, a current police board member.
