In photos: Flooding in Toronto, power outages and chaos in the GTA during Tuesday’s rain

As Tuesday’s rainstorm pummelled the city, Toronto and neighbouring areas across the GTA ground to a halt with power outages and roads submerged under water.

Drivers are stranded due to flooding on the Don Valley Parkway.

A car is trapped on Lower Simcoe Street, its driver having to wade through waist-deep water.  

Environment Canada is calling for up to 125 mm of rain on Tuesday. There may be 40 mm of rainfall per hour.

Tony Ruivo is all smiles as he makes his way from his flooded car after heavy rains hammered Toronto on Tuesday morning. A number of motorists were stranded on the DVP as it completely flooded at Dundas street.
