Two Toronto police officers were injured in separate incidents Monday, the service says — one while stopping an attempted vehicle theft and the other in an alleged assault.
The first incident happened around 10 p.m. in the area of Yonge Street and Kingsdale Avenue in North York after police received reports of a group of males trying to steal a car.
Officers arrived on scene during the attempted auto theft, police said in a post on X, formerly Twitter. While making an arrest, one officer sustained a non-life-threatening injury and was taken to hospital.
Another male allegedly involved in the attempted theft was arrested nearby a short time later, police said.
No descriptions of the remaining suspects were released.
Then around 11 p.m., an officer in full uniform walking in the area of Duncan Street and Queen Street West was allegedly assaulted by a man.
A bystander intervened and arrested the alleged assailant, police said.
The officer was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
