2 teens arrested in connection with carjacking: Toronto police

Two youths have been arrested and charged in connection with a carjacking in February, Toronto police say.

In a news release Wednesday, police said they were called to the area of Weston Road and Lawrence Avenue W., shortly after 10 p.m. on Feb. 23 for report of a robbery.

Three male suspects allegedly approached two people stopped in their vehicle in a parking lot, police say. One suspect allegedly took out a firearm and demanded the victims exit the vehicle. The victims complied, police say, and the three males fled in the victims’ vehicle.

On Tuesday, police said they located one male and took him into custody. That same day, police found the other male, whom they say was already in custody on an unrelated matter.

A 16-year-old Toronto boy has been charged with robbery with firearm, possession of property obtained by crime and fail to comply with probation order. The other 16-year-old boy from Toronto has been charged with robbery with firearm, possession of property obtained by crime.

Both are due in court Wednesday. Police don’t have a description of the outstanding suspect.

Three search warrants were executed Tuesday, police say, and the stolen vehicle has now been recovered.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
