6th person arrested in deaths of Bowmanville couple: police

A sixth person has been arrested in connection with the deaths of a pregnant woman and a man, whose bodies were found at a home east of Toronto last year, Durham Regional Police say.

Yancy William, 24 of Toronto, was arrested and charged on Friday with one count of conspiracy to commit murder in the Bowmanville, Ont., killings, police said in a news release.

On Feb. 4. last year, police allege three armed, masked suspects arrived at a home on Crombie Street at around 12:45 a.m.

The suspects entered the home and allegedly shot both victims, Aram Kamel, 28, and Rafad Alzubaidy, 26, multiple times at close range. Both victims died instantly, police said.

Alzubaidy was six months pregnant at the time of her death, investigators said.

Earlier this month, officers arrested a total of five men in connection with the couple’s deaths. 

Demouy Blair, 22, of Oshawa, and Rocky Steve Stevenson, 37, of Ajax, were both charged on March 13 with two counts of first-degree murder,.

A week before those arrests were announced, three men were also arrested. Illia Ayo and Abdinisar Aden, both 22-year-olds from Toronto, and 21-year-old Emmanuel Ezbon of no fixed address, were each charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

On Friday, police said they are not looking for any more suspects in the case.
