Canada’s Marco Arop earns silver medal in Olympic men’s 800m final

Canadian Marco Arop earned the Olympic silver medal in the men’s 800-metres final at Stade de France on Saturday.

The reigning world champion from Edmonton captured Canada’s first medal in the event in 60 years.

The Canadian women’s 4x400m relay team is competing in the event’s final at 3:14 p.m. ET. The team has placed fourth in each of the past two Olympics and World Athletics Championships.

Thomas Fafard of Repentigny, Que., is also attempting to make the podium when he takes part in the men’s 5,000m final at 1:50 p.m. ET.
