Will Ford make it official?
Good morning from CBC Toronto, where we’ll be watching the premier’s news conference set for 9 a.m. ET (though he’s frequently late) to see if he officially declares he will trigger an early election next Wednesday.
Last night, we confirmed he’s planning to do just that, based on information from a senior Progressive Conservative source.
The Canadian Press reported the same, writing: “Two senior government sources say Ford recently made the decision for the rare winter election after waffling for months.”
Ford has said repeatedly he believes he needs a strong mandate from Ontario voters to counteract potential U.S. tariffs. Maybe today he’ll give Ontarians an election date.
