A man died Tuesday in a collision involving three dump trucks on Toronto’s Gardiner Expressway, police say.
The crash happened in the westbound lanes near the York Street on-ramp, a spokesperson for the Toronto Police Service told CBC News.
A man in his 50s who was driving one of the dump trucks was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
One of the trucks was caught fire after the collision, police said.
The Gardiner was closed to westbound traffic near the Spadina Avenue exit during the afternoon rush hour, according to police, while westbound traffic on the Don Valley Parkway was being diverted at the Bayview/Bloor exit.
All impacted lanes on the DVP and Gardiner have now reopened, police said shortly after 6 p.m. Tuesday.
All impacted on-ramps and exits in the area have also reopened, police said.
The TTC put out alerts saying “all surface routes” were experiencing major delays in the downtown core due to traffic disruptions caused by the collision.
