York Regional Police are appealing for witnesses after gunshots were fired at a Richmond Hill elementary school over the weekend.
Officers were called to the school, near the intersection of 16th and Bayview avenues, around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday for a report of property damage, police said in a news release Wednesday. Police didn’t provide the name of the school.
Officers found evidence of gunshots at the school’s main entrance, according to the release.
Police say nobody was in the school at the time.
“Investigators are appealing for any witnesses to come forward who may have been in the area at the time of the incident, or who may have heard loud bangs not consistent with Canada Day fireworks,” the release said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police or submit information anonymously to Crime Stoppers.
