Male arrested after allegedly entering police station armed

Durham Regional Police say a person has been arrested after allegedly bringing a firearm into a Pickering police station.

Police said a male entered the west division Saturday afternoon with what officers believe is a pellet gun.

“Officers believe at this time the firearm is a pellet gun, however it is required to be sent for testing to confirm,” police said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

Investigators say an interaction took place between the male and officers at the front desk, leading them to place him in custody.

He was taken to hospital, but police don’t provide details about the nature of his injuries.

Two officers have minor injuries as a result of the interaction, police said.

“The investigation remains active, further information will be released once we are able to do so,” police said.
