A man and a woman have been charged in the stabbing death of Matthew Rumble, 39, at Jane subway station last month, Toronto police said Friday.
The man, a 22-year-old from Kitchener, was charged with second-degree murder, police said in a news release.
Meanwhile, a 19-year-old woman from Warminster faces one count of accessory after the fact to murder.
The pair were arrested in Waterloo with the help of the Waterloo Regional Police Service. Both were scheduled to appear in a downtown Toronto courtroom on Friday morning, the release said.
According to police, Rumble was stabbed on the evening of June 25 during an altercation that began on a TTC bus and then turned physical in the bus bay at Jane station.
He died in hospital a short time later. Rumble’s death was the city’s 43rd homicide of 2024.
Police previously said a man and a woman had been seen running from the station on foot following the stabbing.
