Man charged with 2nd-degree murder in grandfather’s death

A 32-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in the stabbing death of his grandfather in Etobicoke in April, Toronto police say.

A 32-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in the stabbing death of his grandfather in Etobicoke in April, Toronto police say.

The accused was arrested at a home in the area of Kipling Avenue and Eglinton Avenue W. on April 18, police said in a news release on Thursday.They did not say when he was charged.

Police allege in the release that the accused assaulted and stabbed his 90-year-old grandfather, leaving him with significant injuries. The grandfather was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Officers had been called to the home at about 2:10 p.m. that day.

The accused was scheduled to attend Toronto Regional Bail Centre on April 19.
