A man is dead after he was struck by a streetcar in Toronto Wednesday afternoon, police say.
The man, who was on foot, was hit near the corner of Queen Street and Sorauren Avenue in the city’s west end, Toronto police said on X, formerly Twitter, just before 4 p.m.
Paramedics attempted life-saving measures, but he died at the scene.
“We are deeply saddened by this tragic incident,” said TTC spokesperson Adrian Grundy. “We are assisting police with their investigation, including providing any available video evidence.”
The area was closed for the investigation but has since reopened.
