Hello everyone and welcome to CBC’s Mississauga mayoral election debate — it’s a beautiful sunny evening out here and we’re excited to bring you this live event.
We’ll begin at 6:30 p.m. ET as host David Common welcomes three candidates to the Living Arts Centre stage. You can stream the debate live in this story, on the CBC News app, or even use your connected TV (you know, if you want the big screen experience).
We’ll be updating this story as quickly as we can once the action starts.
The debating candidates are: Dipika Damerla, Stephen Dasko and Alvin Tedjo. All three are current city councillors looking to take over the city’s top job after the departure of Bonnie Crombie — now leader of the Ontario Liberals.
Carolyn Parrish, is another city councillor running for mayor, but she has declined to participate in debates. She told CBC News she was unavailable for today’s event.
We won’t reveal the exact questions ahead of time, but expect us to press the candidates on how they’ll pay for their promises and to outline their priorities. We’ve also got some fun questions sprinkled into the mix.
While you’re waiting for the debate to start, you can compare Damerla, Dasko and Tedjo’s platforms using this online tool we’ve built.
