A motorcyclist in his 20s is dead after being struck by a transit vehicle in Brampton on Thursday evening, Peel police say.
The collision happened in the area of Hurontario Street and Petworth Road, near Sandalwood Parkway, according to Const. Nikhil Chakravarthy, spokesperson for Peel Regional Police. Officers were called to the scene shortly before 6 p.m.
Peel paramedics tried to save the man’s life but he was pronounced dead at the scene. No one on the bus was injured.
“By the damage on the transit bus, it appears that the motorcycle was likely travelling in a direction perpendicular to the direction of the transit bus,” Chakravarthy said.
Police said they believe there were many motorists in the area at the time of the collision and they are urging witnesses to come forward.
The driver remained at the scene, police say.
There’s no word yet on charges.
Roads were closed in the area as police investigated on Thursday evening.
