A man is dead after he was struck by a streetcar in Toronto Wednesday afternoon, police say.

The man, who was on foot, was hit near the corner of Queen Street and Sorauren Avenue in the city’s west end, Toronto police said on X, formerly Twitter, just before 4 p.m.

Paramedics attempted life-saving measures, but the man died at the scene.

The area has been blocked off to traffic and transit is delayed.
