Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating a police-involved shooting in Orillia, Ont., that has left one person dead and an officer seriously injured.
The shooting happened on Cochrane Street on Thursday shortly before 2 p.m.
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Central Region said in a post on X, formerly Twitter, that itsOrillia detachment is “actively involved” in an investigation.
The OPP urged motorists and pedestrians to avoid the areas of West Street S. at Cochrane Street and Matchedash Street S. at Cochrane Street in Orillia.
