Police make arrest in 3 sexual assaults near Brampton bus stops

Peel police say they’ve made an arrest in connection with three sexual assaults that happened earlier this month where women reported being picked up by a man pretending to be a rideshare driver.

In all three incidents, the suspect approached the victims at bus stops and proactively offered them a ride, though none of the victims had called or were expecting a rideshare, police previously said.

The victims reported being driven away by the suspect and then sexually assaulted. In one case, the victim was able to esacpe and two bystanders assisted her.

Two of the incidents happened on Nov. 8 within about an hour of each other, while the third happened on Nov. 16.

On Sunday, Peel Regional Police said they had arrested an individual they believe is responsible for the sexual assaults via a post on X, formerly Twitter.

Police did not release any details about the individual but say more information about the arrest is coming.
