Toronto police Chief Myron Demkiw said he and members of the force were “hoping for a different outcome” after a jury found Umar Zameer not guilty of all criminal charges in the death of Toronto police officer Det.-Const. Jeffrey Northrup nearly three years ago. A week later, Demkiw apologized in a police board meeting for his choice of words, saying he accepts and respects the jury’s verdict.
