Toronto under winter weather travel advisory with light snow expected overnight

Environment Canada has placed Toronto under a winter weather travel advisory for a second time this week with more snow in the forecast for the city Thursday overnight into Friday.

Lake effect snow off Georgian Bay will mean snowfall accumulations of five centimetres in some areas, Environment Canada said in its advisory.

Flurries, heavy at times, are affecting extreme western areas of York Region and Toronto along with Brampton, the federal weather agency said.

“Motorists should expect hazardous winter driving conditions and adjust travel plans accordingly. Poor weather conditions may contribute to transportation delays,” Environment Canada said.

Peel Region and York Region were also under a travel advisory.

The temperature in Toronto was -4 C Thursday night, which means it felt like -12 with the wind chill.

Friday is expected to be -1 C with a 30 per cent chance of flurries.
