Toronto police say one male is dead and another is seriously injured after a shooting at an apartment building in Etobicoke on Tuesday evening.
Officers were called to a complex in The East Mall and Rathburn Road area at around 5:28 p.m.
Two male victims were found at the scene. Both were taken to hospital where one of the males died of their injuries. The other one sustained serious injuries.
No ages have been provided but police described them as young males.
Two male suspects wearing masks were seeing fleeing. No further descriptions are available at this time.
Police say the shooting took place inside the building.
Duty Inspector Phillip Sinclair said they understand this is a very concerning incident for the residents of the building and those affected.
“We do want to ensure the public at this time that we are putting all the necessary resources in place to help to identify those responsible to solve this homicide,” said Sinclair.
Sinclair added it was too early in the investigation to say whether the victims lived in the building, but said they believe several floors of the building were involved in the incident.
The Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation.
