Broken power rail shuts down TTC subway service on section of Line 1

TTC riders have to wait for shuttle buses in bitterly cold temperatures following a subway service shutdown on a portion of Line 1 on Wednesday morning.

The TTC says there is no subway service between Sheppard West and Lawrence West stations because of a broken power rail. Shuttle buses are running.

The transit agency tells 680 NewsRadio crews noticed a gap in the rail southbound at Yorkdale Station early this morning.

Crews are on scene working to replace the rail, but it’s unclear how long the repairs will take.

There’s no word on when subway service will resume.

The TTC says riders can also expect delays between Vaughan and Finch stations and delays of up to 10 minutes elsewhere along Line 1.
