Project supervisor charged with criminal negligence in Mississauga fatal industrial incident

Peel police have laid charges against a project supervisor in connection with a fatal industrial incident in Mississauga.

Officers were called to an underground water chamber at Hurontario Street and Burnhamthorpe Road West on Dec. 2, 2022 for an industrial incident.

Joaquim Silva, a 54-year-old man from Mississauga, sustained fatal injuries while servicing a damaged pipeline. He was employed with Technicore Underground Inc.

Following a criminal investigation, Joseph Di Millo, the Technicore project supervisor, was arrested and charged with criminal negligence causing death on March 28.

He has been released from custody and was given a court date.

Technicore Underground Inc. has also been served with a criminal summons for the charge of criminal negligence causing death and is expected to appear in court on May 31.
