Toronto police search for stolen vehicle with family dog inside

Toronto police are searching for an alleged stolen vehicle with a family’s dog still inside.

Authorities were notified of a vehicle theft in the area of Bloor Street West and Hwy. 427 just before 9 a.m. on Wednesday.

Police said a white Jeep Grand Cherokee with the Ontario licence plate CVRB054 was stolen with a dog inside the vehicle.

CityNews received a news tip indicating that the vehicle was stolen when a father dropped off his daughter at a nearby school.

CityNews later spoke to the father, who alleged that a suspect approached him and threatened to “hurt the kids” if he didn’t hand over his car. A weapon was not seen, and the man gave the suspect the keys to his vehicle.

The dog is described as a brown chocolate lab named Roxy. The vehicle was last seen travelling westbound on Bloor Street, and the suspect is described as a white male in his late 30s with a short, light-coloured beard.
