Shots fired from moving vehicle in North York: police

Police are investigating after shots were fired at a moving vehicle in North York on Monday morning.

Police say that the incident took place at around 10:45 a.m. near Yonge Street and Empress Avenue, which is just north of Mel Lastman Square.

Reports suggest that the shots were fired from a black pick up truck that then fled the scene southbound along Yonge Street.

No injuries were reported as a result of the shooting.

However, at least one vehicle ended up on its roof near Mel Lastman Square following the incident.

Paramedics have said that two individuals sustained minor injuries in that collision and were taken to hospital for treatment.

At this point it is not clear whether the collision is directly related to the shooting.

Police are investigating and are asking members of the public to be on the lookout for a black pickup truck with front-end damage.

Finch Avenue is closed from Yonge Street to Kenneth Avenue and Yonge Street is closed from Empress to Elmwood avenues as police investigate at the scene.
